The Vision
Vision statement: We, the Tree
of Life Guardianship, are dedicated to healing the Earth, Our Mother;
through the preservation and empowerment of indigenous societies; and
through the collaborative force of the great instruments and emissaries
of traditional indigenous chieftainships, national 'living treasures',
culture bearers and icons of native spiritual leadership, World-wide.
The TLG is dedicated to the preservation and rehabilitation of the
earth's remaining regions of biodiversity where acts of conservation
benefit, not only plant and animal species, but more significantly,
endangered human societies.
The TLG thus seeks to protect the earth, by defending the peoples who
guard the earth—peoples whose survival depends upon indigenous
knowledge; knowledge which emerged, and is thus intertwined, within the
vitality of Mother Nature herself.
The Earth, the corn, and man, are one.
The ability for diverse
cultures of humanity to live, evolve and survive is dependent on the
right to land and adequate food sources. A people must be allowed to
gather and produce food by relation to a secure land base; else they
will be no more than an appendage of the hand that feeds them.
Indigenous peoples are a treasure of the earth; of inestimable value to
both nature and society at large; they deserve to live according to
their ethics, in the way they love, on the land that they call home.
Strategy
Approach:
The Tree of Life Guardianship functions in a holistic modality,
exemplifying the spirit of mysticism balanced securely and rooted in
pragmatism. It works cooperatively with other nonprofit organizations in
order to organize and streamline its central ambitions. It relies on the
ultimate directive of native elders and spiritual leaders to garner
confidence in its perspective and pursuit, and works in league with
grass-roots community efforts in order to acquire necessary power in
accomplishing its objectives.
The principal directives embodied by the TLG portray its holistic vision
and the array of solutions required for the regeneration of health and
harmony among the nations of the world’s indigenous peoples. Our
mandates act concurrently to steward the integrity, stability, and
beauty of the Nature’s biotic communities
Our approach is a scientific-based planning process, designed to
identify ancient indigenous cultures that are most imperiled, and/or
whose difficulties can be expediently resolved. Cultures that represent
unique diversity, are relatively intact, or maintain prehistoric roots,
are our prime objective with regard to preservation.
In addition, cultures that are, by nature, peaceable, maintain
functional models of social harmony, and that have evolved viable
prototypes of ecological sustainability for our planet, are
preferentially valued—to the degree that these ethics have been
effectively integrated within a given society.
The Tree of Life Guardianship espouses a 'mutuality systems approach'
relationship whereby endangered peoples can be enlisted as guardians,
gardeners and caretakers of endangered plant and animal species—species
co-inhabiting the very lands that original people depend upon for their
livelihoods.
